Rock and Roll President Greg Allman and Jimmy Carter, the anecdote-famous former U.S. president, will celebrate their 100th birthday on Oct. 1, 2024.
He was born exactly on October 1, 1924, which is the oldest president ever to survive.
For reference, Eleanor Rosalynn Smith Carter, the wife of former President Jimmy Carter, also lived a long life until Nov. 19, 2023, when she turned 96.
I'm celebrating his 100th birthday, and I'd like to share this by researching Jimmy Carter and past presidents of the United States.
About President Jimmy Carter
Born on October 1, 1924, he first made his name in politics as a senator for Georgia in 1963. The issue at that time was that the election was held in 1962, and although he failed the election at that time, he was able to win it because it was found to be a fraudulent election. He is one of the lucky politicians in this regard. As I will tell you later, no one knew when he became president that he would eventually become a presidential candidate for the Democratic Party of the United States. He was elected governor of Georgia in 1970 and served as governor of Georgia from 1971 to 75. In 1976, he was selected as a presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of the United States and entered the presidential election. In the process, the famous musician Greg Allman visits him late at night with a bottle of Scotch whisky in his hand. That made Jimmy Carter a leading candidate for the Democratic Party, and he really became the presidential candidate that no one expected. So people said that President Rock and Roll created the President of the United States. The story was made into a documentary called Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President. What is Jimmy Carter to Korea?
Jimmy Carter was one of the presidents who had an important influence on the Republic of Korea. Given that he served four years in office, his popularity in the United States does not seem to have continued. During his time in office, Korea was in the era of military power, so there were once difficult times due to human rights issues and the withdrawal of the U.S. from Korea, but it is said that it created the ROK-U.S. Combined Forces and reduced the number of U.S. troops to 6,000 instead of the complete withdrawal of U.S. troops from Korea, laying the groundwork for the growth of Korea's military defense. I made a state visit to Korea in June 1979. He initially strongly criticized Korea's 12·12 military revolt and the 5.17 coup, but in the end, the US government failed to persuade Jeon Doo-hwan's new military and seemed to just condone it. As a result, it is said that anti-American sentiment among Koreans was at its peak.after one's retirement
After leaving office, his wife founded the Carter Center, a nonprofit organization, and supported democracy in three different worlds. Also, in this process, I did not pay attention to the U.S. government and acted with conviction. He is also the one who led the Oslo Accords with Israel and the Palestinians, which are very much an issue these days. He also arranged a meeting between President Kim Young-sam and President Kim Il-sung in 1993, which was not achieved due to the sudden death of Kim Il-sung.a disease-fighting battle
In 2015, he had a liver tumor found and operated on, but the cancer was transferred and he was declared melanoma. And eventually, he was cured. But not long after he is completely cured, his wife Rosalyn dies. In addition, he reportedly stopped life-sustaining treatment and went into hospice care due to a recurrence of cancer in February 2023.NAME | NO | BIRTH | death | YEAR | TERM |
